How could someone with a face like this kill?

Sven sat up and rubbed his head. He got to his feet and stretched out. Sven stood at an 'impressive' four foot five. He was as heavily muscled as a blacksmith, perhaps even more so. He a hand through his blond beard and sighed. He was in a jail, even he could understand that. Inside his cell were two other men, he recognized them as the men who had joined him in the fight against the watchmen. Only one of them was concious, and amazingly enough he was sober too!

"Good job, dwarf. You had to start that brawl, didn't you?" His somber face broke into a smile and he laughed. "And a right good fight that was! Too bad it ended with us in here."

Sven walked over and smiled at the man. "I be Sven Brogarsnev. Ye can jus' call me Sven if ye likes."

"And you can call me Lars. Good to meet you. Too bad your going to hang."

"Why?"

"Your wanted for murder. You'll be killed."

Confusion and grief were written on Sven's face. "But...they attacked me..." His face cracked into a snarl and he yelled out "They were after me gold!" He suddenly panicked as he realised that the watchmen took everything, including his money.

"Well, at least you won't have to pay off your tab. You two drank alot."

Sven suddenly smiled again. "O' course we did! We be from Norsca! Eh? Ye be a southerner, me uncle says that southerners cannae drink. And they ale be watered down too." Sven nodded sagely.

Lars smiled at the dwarf as if though he were a child who had just said something both foolish and funny. "He sounds like a wise man."

"Dwarf. Not a man. He nay be a weak, gangly manling. Err...no offense to ye or ye kin. But manlings are usually weak...and all o' ye are gangly. E'en the Norse, though they nay be weak."

Lars yawned and rubbed his bruised head. "You don't say."

"Nay, I do."

"Right."

Lars started to envy his unconcious comrades. He prayed that the guards would come soon, the dwarf was starting to get bothersome.

"I am nay going to die, manling. I'll tell them that they attacked me, so I killed 'em. I'll e'en give their stuff back to their clans me will. Though by right they stuff be mine."

"Their clans? Never mind. Listen, I'm going to get some sleep. My head hurts."

Sven chuckled and muttered something in Norscan about humans being weak. Lars turned away and went to his cot to try and get some sleep. It was futile, Sven had started to hum. He briefly thought about hitting the dwarf in the head, but one look at his hands, which were the size of hams and which were covered in dry blood made him think otherwise. Instead he lay back down and tried to drown out the sound of the dwarf's infernal huming.

After a few hours four guards came up to the cell, they each wore slightly more armour than usual and all but one had their swords drawn. The one without his sword was carrying a large bunch of manacles. One of the guards called into the cell.
"Dwarf! We've got orders to escort you to the Palace, seems they've got some business with you. Now you either peacefully let us manacle you and take you their under guard without any funny business. Or we leave you in here, either way we get paid so it's your choice."

Sven looked at them dubiously. "Prince? Why would the son o' ye king want to speak with me?" He shrugged his shoulders. "I'll go with ye. Mayhaps he'll tell his father that I be innocent and then I'll get me stuff back. I know why ye took me weapons but me still wish ye hadn't taken me gold. I be wantin' that back." He would have sounded like a despondent child, that if it wasn't for the fact that his voice sounded like two stones rubbing together; that and even though he was the size of a child he easily outweighed any of the guards present.

The watchmen grumbled slightly and unlocked the door to the cell, two stepped inside the cell whilst the other two hurried to fill the doorway, stopping any escape. They quickly shackled the dwarf and walked him out of the cell. They locked it behind them and then escorted the dwarf out of the watch house to the Palace. One watchman either side with one in front and behind.

Sven made his way back to the watch house, ignoring the odd looks he was getting. It wasn't everyday that one saw a dwarf walking down the street with broken manacles. A group of watchmen seeing him moved to intercept him, but stopped when they saw that he was heading straight for the watch house. They had thought that he was an escaped prisoner at first, but if that were the case why would he head back to jail?

Sven barged into the watch house, found the first person he saw and handed them the note. The man looked at him in confusion. "I don't work here...I'm here to report a theft..."

Sven just shrugged and went to the next person he saw, this time that person was sitting behind a desk. He shoved the piece of paper at him and said. "Ye prince told me to give this tae ye."

The watchmen took the note and slit open the seal with his finger, unfolding it he read it quickly. Once he was done he glanced back the seal, looked up at Sven and grinned.
"From the prince eh? Don't make me laugh, get out of here dwarf before I arrest you."
The watchmen threw the letter at Sven and went back to reading the newspaper.

A look of confusion passed over Sven's face, he wondered whether he had done something wrong. He didn't think that he did. Suddenly it hit him, the man just called him a liar! He took one of the chains from his manacles in his hands and swung it down onto the man's desk. The heavy metal chain hit the solid oak desk with such force that splinters of wood flew up into the air. He shouted out with genuine anger "Ye blasted snotling fondler! I've had enough o' ye blasted manlings! First ye kinsmen try to kill me, then I get thrown in this blasted bloody jail for defendin' meself! I get dragged to ye prince in chains, insulted by ye guards, and then when I think that I can finally get a drink and a wee nip, I get called a liar! Either ye take back ye words or by Grimnir's beard I rip out all o' ye teeth with me bear hands and then make ye eat them!"

The entire room fell silent and everyone turned to see the commotion. The on duty watchmen started to move foward and kept their hands on their weapons, ready for action. Sven was not a figure that could easily be forgotten, there were few dwarfs in the town as is, and Sven easily stood out amongst them as being both broader than most and by possesing a bright yellow beard. All anyone knew was that the dwarf had been dragged into the watch house unconcious, led away in chains, and now he was back with his chains broken. It was perhaps a blessing that his guards had already reported back, if they had not then things would have turned uglier much faster, as most men would assume that he had broken free of his manacles and killed them. All anyone knew now was that he was back, his chains were broken and he was incrediably angry.

The watchmen skidded his chair away from his desk as fast as he could as the chain slammed down onto it. He jumped to his feet and drew his sword shakily, he held it arms length and pointed it at Sven.
"Y..y..y..y..y..you get away from m..m..m..m..m..me!"
He stammered and waved the sword a bit, several other watchmen drew their swords and stepped closer to the enraged dwarf as several citizens screamed and fled the building. All of a sudden a tall man wearing slightly shinier armour than the rest of the watchmen and bearing a great many more scars and a fine layer of stubble across his chin strode out into the foyer.
"What's going on here!?"
He roared at the watchmen present, the loud noise causing the man behind the desk to drop his sword in fright. He turned to face the captain and snapped a salute.
"This dwarf is causing trouble sir!"
The captain snarled and walked over to the dwarf.
"The name's Jason Reeves, I run this mockery of a City Watch. What's your business here dwarf?"

Sven looked up at the man, bent down and picked up the note from the floor. "The prince gave me this. This fooker called me a liar." He handed it over.

The captain snatched the note from the dwarf's ham fist and scanned it quickly, his lips moving as he did so. He turned it over once he was done and inspected the seal and name. He then turned to the desk clerk and frowned.
"Do you know what this is!?"
He strode over to him, waving the letter.
"Do you!?"
The clerk shrank back as the captain forced the note at his eyes.
"Not only is this a hand-written letter from his royal highness! It is a letter to ME!"
The man screamed the last word and leapt forward at the clerk, spittle spraying from his mouth.
"It is addressed to me and should not have been opened by anyone else! Do I make myself clear!?"
The clerk whimpered and a warm puddle began to form around his feet. The captain drew out his cosh and suddenly smacked the man on the head.
"I asked you a question corporal!"
The corporal bit his tongue to hold back tears and managed a weak.
"Yes sir..."
The captain glared at the clerk before folding the note up and turning on his heel, he slipped the note under his helmet before barking an order.
"Get this dwarf his trappings and grab five crowns out of the chitty!"
There were various groans from some of the men at this.
"But sir, we badly need that new dartboard, the old one has worn through to the wall."
The captain grinned at the man who had spoken.
"You can thank corporal Spools for that. Now I know I gave an order 'cause I heard an echo, so why can't I hear movement!"
The captain turned and walked back into his office, the watch house suddenly began to bustle as everyone attempted to look busy so as not to get shouted at anymore. The dwarf's items were brought forwards and a small pouch of gold was set on top, they were stuffed into Sven's arms and he was hurried out of the watch house so as not to cause anymore trouble.

Sven grinned manically as he was pushed out the watch house. Finally he had met a human whom he liked who wasn't norse. He quickly pulled his jerkin on (and hid his purse of gold within it) and coif on, buckled up his belt and hung his hand axe from it. Ignoring the chains still dangling from his wrists and ankles he walked off towards the inn, intent on getting a drink.

Sven grogilly pulled himself off the stone floor and moaned. His head was bounding and his body was covered in bruises. He looked around and realised that he was back in the watch house. He really wished that this was a clan-house; at least clan elders could be reasoned with. He looked over a the cell next to him and saw his drinking partner lying on the floor. He sighed and hoped that the elf wasn't dead. If that were the case then he'd have to go on a killing spree...

Anruil pulled himself up and moaned while holding his head. "I'm fine, Sven. God...this is the last place I wanted to be." Sven smiled broadly, happy to see that his friend was moving.
