The ships
Ship of the Line
First of all, there are the Ship of the Lines, basically these are battle ships. One is more likely to find these belonging to the city of Raphoe or to a very wealthy merchant. Some pirates do own these ships though, and when these appear one's best option is to flee.
Ships of the line carry between 32 and 144 guns arranged on three and sometimes four decks. Most of them will carry about 74 guns on three decks. Sometimes a smaller Ship of the line will have its guns on just two gun decks instead of the more traditional three. Typically the cannons are around 32 to 42 pounders.
Frigates Frigates are far more commonly seen than ship of the lines, they are found with three masts but was noticeably smaller than a Ship of the Line. It would typically have a full battery of guns on the gun deck and a light battery on a spar deck. Typically the Frigate can carry between 24 and 40 guns ranging in size between 12 and 24 pounders.
Corvette-Sloop of War Used by the pirates for their speed, they are less well armored than other ships but have a greater mobility. This makes the Corvette a fast light ship that can attack quickly but not bring an enormous amount of fire power to hand. Corvettes have their guns arranged on a single fighting deck. A typical corvette carries between 12 to 20 guns ranging between 6 to 12 pounders.
